U.S. Judge Peter Beer of New Orleans; ungrateful loser

The state of Louisiana provided Peter Hill Beer with a law license in 1952 after he graduated from Tulane University Law School.

In 1979 President Carter was duped into appointing Peter Beer to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Peter didn’t receive his appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the New Orleans area, he got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks for many years.

Peter is personally involved as a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the United States (that’d be us) wherein it is claimed that Congress violated the compensation clause of the constitution by barring cost-of-living adjustments. This asinine argument has already been turned down by the Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court several years ago.

This ungrateful loser has the audacity to assert that he’s entitled to more than the $174,000 a year that he is already paid. In 1994, Peter went on senior status, meaning he is only required to work 10-hours-a-week while he continues to receive his salary of $174,000. How would you like to get paid for a 40-hour workweek for only working 10 hours?

Peter is 84-years-old as we speak (ca. June 2012) but he refuses to permanently retire. His only reason for remaining on the bench is his hopes that Congress will pass a pay raise of 35% or more, which would allow him to retire with a lifetime pension of $235,000.

One thing all of your hardworking taxpayers should remember is that Federal Judges do no contribute even one penny to the cost of their 100% lifetime pensions. Compare this abuse to the contributions other government workers and/or those in the private sector have to make. What a joke!

What is truly galling is the fact that Wallace isn’t required to pay even one cent into the cost of his 100% lifetime pension. Why aren’t Congress and more importantly the Tea Party legislators raising hell about this abusive giveaway of taxpayer money?
