► U.S. Judge John Mendez of Sacramento, CA; incompetent boob

The state of California provided John A. Mendez with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Harvard University School of Law.

Former President George W. Bush was duped into nominating Johnny as a U.S. District Court judge for the Eastern District of California in 2007. Johnny didn’t receive the nomination because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In one matter, Johnny was assigned to sit on a case involving Creighton Meland Jr. in a shareholder’s claim contesting the constitutionality of a California law requiring every public held corporation headquartered in California to have at least one female on its board of directors and up to a minimum of three for larger boards.

In a display of his incompetence, Johnny dismissed the Meland’s lawsuit “with prejudice” meaning he was barred from ever pursuing the claim in the future. In so acting, he ignorantly ruled that the plaintiff lacked standing because he had not asserted an injury to himself caused by the legislation.

Subsequently, Meland successfully appealed Johnny’s erroneous dismissal of his case to the 9^th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. In reversing Johnny’s moronic ruling, the Appeals Court made the following statements.

“We hold that because Meland has plausibly alleged that SB 826 requires or encourages him to discriminate on the basis of sex, he has adequately alleged that he has standing to challenge SB 826’s constitutionality.”

As we speak (ca. August 2021), Johnny continues to practice his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of California in Sacramento.
