U.S. Judge Roger Vinson’s ruling v. Healthcare reform; unmitigated joke

Unfortunately, President Reagan appointed Vinson as a Federal District Judge in 1983. Of course it goes without saying that the only reason Clyde received this appointment was due to his proven track record of acting as a compliant lackey and bootlicker for the local political hacks in Florida. To be fair the same can be said of the vast majority of appointees to the federal bench.

In March 2005, Judge Vinson (aka, “Clyde the Slide”) assumed senior status, which means he only has to work 10 hours a week to earn his $174,000 yearly salary and to continue receiving a gold-plated health insurance compliments of y’all (that’d be you overtaxed citizens). Isn’t America a great country?

It should be noted that Ol’ Clyde waited to assume senior status in 2005 to assure that he would be replaced by a Republican president. Ol’ Clyde certainly proved he was a reliable servant (apple-polisher) for the GOP, right?

On Jan 31, 2011, Vinson issued a ruling wherein he had the chutzpah to declare that the recently passed Healthcare Reform Act was unconstitutional. In his asinine ruling (is there another kind?) Vinson ruled it was unconstitutional for the government to require Americans to by health insurance or face penalties.

In an overt effort to satisfy his benefactors (that’d be the political hacks in Florida that were responsible for his judgeship) he went one step further by laughingly ruling that the entire Act was unconstitutional.

I don’t claim to be a constitutional law guru but I personally believe that Vinson’s ruling borders on lunacy.

I suspect that if the late Jeffrey Dahmer had filed an employment discrimination suit against Vice President Al Gore for refusing to accept his application to be the official caterer for the Whitehouse, Ol’ Clyde would have ruled in Jeff’s favor.

This laughable ruling seems to establish that Judge Roger Vinson missed his calling as a standup comedian.
