US Judge Martin L. Feldman of New Orleans; lackey for Big Oil

Judge Martin Leach (apropos) Feldman was unfortunately appointed to the bench by Ronald Reagan in 1983 to sit on the District Court in New Orleans.

On June 21, 2010, Judge Feldman granted an injunction against the Obama Administration on behalf of his primary benefactors (aka, constituents), which is of course Big Oil. In doing so, Judge Martin Feldman has single-handedly given the term “judicial activist” a bad name, not to mention his obvious ignorance of the requirement to recuse himself when the “mere appearance of bias” or “conflict of interest” exists.

Beginning in at least 2002, Judge Feldman has personally invested in at least forty (40) oil/gas companies, many of which are involved in or have financial interests in deep-well drilling in the Gulf Coast. The list of those companies can be found at the end of this article. At best, Judge Martin Feldman would have earned $398,000 from those investments from 2002 through 2008 (last date of reviewable financial disclosure statement).

Since Judge Feldman held investments in at least twenty (20) oil/gas companies in 2002, it is quite possible that over the past twenty-five (25) years he may well have earned $1 million or even more from these investments.

Patently, due to the fact that Judge Feldman’s umbilical cord remains attached to Big Oil, he had a duty to recuse himself from ever sitting on this case. However, due to his total lack of ethics and more importantly to assure a favorable outcome for his financial benefactors, he refused to so act.

Even more disturbing is Judge Feldman’s absurd ruling which conclusively proves that he lacks the legal acumen to understand the doctrine of “separation of powers.” In defaming well-intentioned “judicial activists,” Judge Feldman had the chutzpah to rule that Big Oil would likely suffer irreparable damages if Obama’s six-month moratorium on deep-sea drilling was allowed to remain intact.

Of course as chief lackey and bootlicker for Big Oil, Judge Feldman apparently has no concern for the victims of the deepwater Horizon spill in the gulf that continues to devastate the environment and destroy the livelihoods of untold thousands. Judge Feldman’s laughable ruling is akin to him saying to the victims of this massive spill, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”

In reviewing Judge Feldman’s absurd ruling, it would appear that he missed his calling as a standup comedian.
