State Sen. Lee Bright (SC): Today’s “Misogynist” Award Winner

In November 2008, Lee duped the voters in Spartanburg and Greenville Counties into electing him as a member of the South Carolina Senate.

In an effort to cement his status as a die-in-the-wool mysoginist and woman hater, Lee embarked on a filibuster in the South Carolina Senate due to his opposition to an abortion bill that had exceptions for rape and incest victims. In support of his screwy exceptions, Lee argued that rape wasn’t an acceptable excuse to exempt women from an abortion ban

Lee subsequently held a press conference with some women who claimed they were the children of a rapist. Lee laughingly said he was willing to jeopardize his GOP colleagues’ careers in order to block the abortion bill from passing with rape and incest exceptions. He then said:

  • “If these babies aren’t allowed to survive, these politicians shouldn’t be allowed to survive their elections.”

It sure would have been a different world in South Carolina if Lee’s Mom would have opted for an abortion in May 1969 or if his Daddy had visited the Rite Aid and purchased a package of condoms. Knowing what I know today about Lee, I would have reimbursed his Daddy for the cost of a package of Trojan condoms.

Congrats Lee; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Misogynists”; you are far too

Humble.
