Attorney James Walsh of Ontario, CAN; ethical goblin

The Law Society of Upper Canada presented Michael Louis Robinson with a law license in 1970 after he graduated from the University of Ottawa School of Law.

The Law Society of Upper Canada Disciplinary Committee found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in professional misconduct
  • Disbursed trust funds when he ought to have known that he was being used by a client to facilitate dishonesty
  • Client dishonesty involved four bad checks cheques of significant amounts, occurred over a three-month period and left a deepening deficit in his trust account
  • Accepted a suspicious check from his client, then wrote a trust check in the same amount, resulting in an $85,000 loss to a bank
  • Failed to promptly report his error or omission to LawPRO as required to do

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Upper Law Society Committee punished Jimmy by gifting him a complimentary 4-month suspension of his law license and assessed him with $6,000.00 in costs regarding the ethics investigation.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Jimmy practices with Walsh & Associates at 2535 Major Mackenzie Drive in Maple, Ontario, Canada.
