State Rep. Carl Trujillo (D-NM); alleged sexual abuser

In 2012, Carl duped the voters in the greater Santa Fe area into electing him as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives.

In May 2018, lobbyist and animal welfare activist Laura Bonar alleged that Carl sexually harassed her on numerous occasions while they worked together on legislation in 2013 and 2014.

In her complaint, Laura stated that she was propositioned and touched inappropriately and that Carl later shut her out of the legislative process in 2014 when she rejected his advances. Subsequently, Laura switched from her job as a lobbyist for Animal Protection Voters to an administrative position with the organization.

Larua’s written accounts were submitted to the Legislature for its review and findings.

All that remains is to see how long it takes for Carl to perform a mea culpa and resign from his legislative office.

As we speak (ca. May 2018), Carl remains sitting as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives.
