Coroner Shannon Kent of Leadville, CO: Today’s “Public Official Misfit” Award Winner

In one matter, Shannon was recently (ca. September 2019) indicted on the following charges.

• Second-degree official misconduct
• Sent his wife Staci to conduct numerous death investigations
• Wife was not a sworn deputy when Kent sent her to investigate deaths in the Lake county
• Stace did not take an oath as required by state law and administered by a county clerk or a judge

All that remains now is to see how long it takes for Shannon to cop a plea in order to reduce the amount of time he’ll have to spend in prison.

As we speak (ca. November 2019), Shannon continues to be employed as the Lake County Coroner in Leadville, Colorado.
