Attorney John Hoard of Casper, WY; ethical ogre

The state of Wyoming presented John C. Hoard with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Law.

The Board of Professional Responsibility found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to timely comply with client instruction to file chapter 7 bankruptcy petition
  • Frustrated at Johnny’s lack of diligence re: bankruptcy filing, the client fired him
  • After firing Johnny, the bankruptcy client discovered she was no longer eligible for a Chapter 7 proceeding and would have to file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy petition instead.
  • The chapter 13 plan required the client to make more than $44,000 in payments to creditors, which wouldn’t have been required had Hoard filed a Chapter 7 petition

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Wyoming Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Johnny practices his brand of law at 800 Werner Court in Casper, Wyoming.
