Attorney Guy Fredel of Mosinee, WI; repeat offender, slacker

The state of Wisconsin presented Guy W. Fredel with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation found Guy guilty of the following misconduct.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Guy practices law with Fredel Law Offices at 201 Main Street in Mosinee, Wisconsin.
  1. Failing to provide client with adverse party’s discovery requests
  2. Failed to provide the adverse party with responses to discovery requests
  3. Failed to file a reply to the opposing party’s summary judgment motion
  4. Failed to advise the client of the summary judgment motion and its implications
  5. Failed to inform the client of the trial court’s entry of summary judgment against his client
  6. Failed to file a required Qualified Domestic Relations Order for client during post-divorce proceedings
A woman (victim) hired Guy to represent her in a divorce action and to complete a qualified domestic relations order (QDRO) so that she would receive a portion of her ex-husband’s pension fund. She also hired Guy to handle a foreclosure action on her home.

Guy prepared a draft of the QDRO order but did nothing more for two years. In regards to the foreclosure action, Guy failed to respond to discovery and a summary judgment motion that led to the court issuing an order to foreclose on the house. The client first learned that the foreclosure judgment had been entered against her after she discovered a public notice of a foreclosure sale.

As expected, this wasn’t Guy’s first bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. Several years earlier he received a complimentary private reprimand for failing to act diligently in representing a client in a probate matter.

As a consequence of his most recent misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Guy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
