Attorney Dean Perkins Jr. of Seattle, WA; ethical gremlin

The state of Washington presented Dean Standish Perkins Jr. with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from the University of Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

The Washington State Bar found Dean guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to promptly inform and/or obtain informed consent in writing from his client regarding terms of a fee splitting agreement with outside counsel
  • Took a portion of a contingent fee without a written contingent fee agreement
  • Modified original fee agreement without (a) fully disclosing the terms,(b) advising or providing the client with an opportunity to consult independent counsel, (c) and/or obtaining the client's informed written consent; and 4) revealing information relating to his representation of his client and/or by failing to make reasonable efforts to prevent the inadvertent disclosure and/or unauthorized access to information relating to the representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Dean by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Dean practices his brand of law with Dean Standish Perkins & Associates at 119 1st Avenue South in Seattle, Washington.
