Attorney Theodore Parry of Seattle; ethical troll

The state of Washington presented Theodore R. Parry with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from the University of Puget Sound Law School.

The Washington State Bar Association found Teddy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • For eight months, represented on all of his pleading paper, letterhead, business cards, and e-mail communications that he was practicing as a member of a law firm when no such firm existed
  • In two personal-injury matters, collected fees on the same day settlement checks were deposited in the firm’s trust account and before the settlement checks had cleared the banking system
  • Paid his firm a fee based on one-third of the gross recovery when the fee agreement provided for one-third of the net recovery
  • Failed to review proposed fee disbursement with this client
  • Drafted fee agreement that did not clearly indicate the manner that the contingent fee was to be calculated
  • Withdrew trust-account funds that he was not entitled to collect
  • Failed to return overpayments to the trust account when the overpayments were brought to his attention
  • Failed to promptly pursue resolution of a client’s medical-provider claim in a personal-injury matter
  • In two personal-injury matters, used fee agreements giving him power of attorney to execute settlement checks and releases on client’s behalf without first obtaining the clients’ consent in writing after full disclosure
  • Failed to advise a client whether the claims he was pursuing were the property of the client’s bankruptcy estate

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Teddy by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2018), Teddy practices at 13500 Lake City Way NE in Seattle, Washington.
