Attorney Brian Butler of Spokane, WA; cheater, repeat offender

 

The state of Washington provided Brian Thomas Butler with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Gonzaga University Law School.

 

The Washington State Bar found Brian guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Brian’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with clients
  • Failed to explain matters to the extent necessary for client to make reasonable decisions about their legal matters
  • Failed to provide client with written contingent fee agreement

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Brian by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

 

Brian’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to preserve identity of client funds
  • Failed to terminate representation when required to do so
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with clients
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed of status of matter
  • Charged client an unreasonable fee (cheater)
  • Failed to deposit client funds into client trust account
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Brian!)
  • Failed to maintain complete trust account records
  • Failed to provide accountings to all of his clients

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Brian by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. August 2017), Brian practices with the Butler Law Office at 157 South Monroe Street in Spokane, Washington.
