Attorney Homer Cody of Memphis; ethical gremlin

The state of Tennessee provided Homer L. Cody with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from the University of Missouri Law School.

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility found Homer guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in a conflict of interest
  2. Pursued claims that were frivolous
  3. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  4. Failed to comply with court orders
In one matter, Homer represented parties in the same lawsuit that had adverse interests causing an inherit conflict of interest.

Subsequently, both the trial court judge and the Court of Appeals ordered that Homer refrain from representing either of the parties. Despite the court orders, Homer continued to represent one of the parties.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Homer by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. May) Homer practices at 604 Poplar Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee.
