Attorney John McDougal of Hixon, TN; ethical troll

The state of Tennessee presented John Gary McDougal with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law.

The Board of Professional Responsibility found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to adhere to filing deadlines as set forth in the Rules of Appellate Procedure
  • Failed to comply with orders filed by the Criminal Court of Appeals
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to expedite client litigation
  • Disobeyed an obligation under the rules of a tribunal (Up yours, said Johnny!)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so or did so through the acts of another

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Johnny practices his brand of law at 1010 Market Street in Hixson, Tennessee.
