Attorney Shannon Elsea of Memphis, TN; ethical ogre

The state of Tennessee provided Shannon David Elsea with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the John Marshall School of Law in Chicago.

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility found Shannon guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Violated or attempted to violate the rules of professional conduct, knowingly assisted, or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Provided deceptive information to his client
  • Knowingly deceived ethics investigators (Up yours, said Shannon!)
  • Failed to expedite client litigation
  • Untruthful in statements to various people
  • Charges and/or collected an excessive fee (cheater)
  • Lied to client that a settlement of his claims had taken place
  • Deceived the clerk of court and opposing counsel as to the true status of a case which interfered with the timely administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Shannon by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. December 2020) Shannon practices his brand of law at 219 Adams Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee.
