Attorney Edward Butler of Eugene, OR; ethical goblin

The state of Oregon provided Edward M. Butler with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from the University of Oregon Law School.

The Oregon State Bar found Eddie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Violated duty he owed to her client
• Negligent in his failure to heed  a  substantial  risk  that  circumstances  exist  or  that  a  result  will  follow,  which failure  was  a  deviation  from  the  standard  of  care  that  a  reasonable  lawyer  would exercise in said situation
• Did  not  have  a  written  agreement  or other  writing  that  expressed  that  the  fees  paid  in  advance  constituted  a  nonrefundable retainer,  earned  on  receipt

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Eddie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. 

As we speak (ca. April 2019) Eddie practices at 132 East Broadway in Eugene, Oregon.
