Attorney Linda Dickens of Kansas City, MO; ethical goblin

The state of Missouri presented Linda S. Dickens with a law license in 2011 after she graduated from DePaul University Law School. 

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Linda guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Told her elderly clients that she would change her statements to the government about the couple's taxes if she was not paid attorney fees to which she was not entitled
• Threatened to sue the elderly couple for negligent misrepresentation of a material fact, unjust enrichment and fraudulent misrepresentation
• Threatened to contact the IRS about more than a half a million dollars in “phantom income” involving her elderly clients
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Counsel punished Linda by gifting her with a complimentary 2-year suspension of her law license effective October 2019.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), Linda will resume her practice of law at 10975 Grandview Drive in Overland Park, Kansas beginning in late September 2021.
