Attorney James Lawton III of St. Paul, MN; repeat offender

 

The state of Minnesota presented James L. Lawton III with a law license in 1972 after he graduated from William Mitchell Law School.

 

The Minnesota Office of Lawyer Regulation found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Jimmy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Falsely certified to Supreme Court that he maintained proper trust account records
  • Failed to reveal conflicts of interest when required to so act
  • Failed to maintain proper books and records

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.

 

Jimmy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Neglected client cases
  • Failed to provide contracted for services to clients

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. January 2015), Jimmy practices with Lawton & Lawton at 1100 7th Street in St. Paul, Minnesota.
