Attorney Joseph Capistrant of Saint Paul, MN; ethical goblin

The state of Wisconsin presented Joseph M. Capistrant with a law license in 2007 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Law. Joey also received a license to practice in Minnesota in 1987.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Joey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to advise clients, courts, and opposing counsel of the suspension of his Wisconsin law license
• Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation
• Failed to notify his clients by certified mail of his license suspension
• Failed to advise his clients to seek legal advice elsewhere
• Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
• Made false or misleading communications about himself and his legal services

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. November 2023), Joey practices his so-called brand of law with the Capistrant Law Office LTD at 1724 Selby Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
