Attorney Thomas Ward of Minneapolis; ethical ogre

The state of Minnesota presented Thomas Robert Ward with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from Hamline School of Law.

FYI: Hamline is ranked as the 164th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Entered into business transaction with client that was not fair and reasonable
  • Failed to disclose all terms of transaction to client in manner that could be reasonably understood by the client
  • Failed to obtain from the client a consent to the transaction in a document separate from the transaction documents
  • Failed to notify the client in writing prior to the execution of the transaction documents that independent counsel should be considered
  • Utilized unfair and ambiguous terms of the transaction documents to deprive the client of her equity in the real property that was the subject of the transaction
  • Made unwanted physical contact of a sexual nature with an applicant for employment in his law office

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Tommy fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.wardlawofficesltd.com.   Apparently, he chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Tommy practices with the Ward Law Offices LTD at 6200 Excelsior Blvd in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
