Attorney Michael Dash of Boston; congenital liar

The state of Massachusetts presented Michael Leon Dash with a law license in 1992.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Frank guilty of the following misconduct.

Michael entered in an agreement with a non-lawyer to operate al legal practice in Boston. The terms of the agreement called for the non-attorney to serve as paralegal and office manager. The non-lawyer asked that the law practice be called “Marshall’s Legal Services, Attorneys at Law,” which Michael agreed to do.

The non-lawyer brought five tort cases with her to the practice. During the time the practice operated, Michael failed to supervise the non-lawyer. He allowed her to accept new clients; to assemble records and to make presentation to insurance companies; to advise clients on legal matters, including whether to accept a settlement offer; and to receive and disburse settlement funds.

One of the tort cases referred to the practice by the non-lawyer involved the non-lawyer’s sister, whose last name was Marshall. When an insurance adjuster inquired about the coincidence and the law practice name and about Marshall’s relationship to the non-lawyer, Michael acknowledged that Marshall was the non-lawyer’s sister but he then made several false assertions. Michael falsely stated that the non-lawyer was “my landlord, not my employee” and he falsely stated that there was no relationship between Marshall’s surname and the name of his law practice.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Frank by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license. .

As we speak (ca. October 2012) Michael practices with the Law Office of Michael L. Dash at 101 Tremont Street in Boston, Massachusetts.
