Attorney Richard Abbott of Brookline, MA; ethical troll

The state of Massachusetts presented Richard Abbott with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Suffolk University School of Law.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Dick guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Neglected client’s case
  • Negligence led to client’s direct appeal being dismissed
  • Failed to push forward a motion for a new trial on client’s behalf
  • Fabricated a letter to his client involving failure to move for a new trial
  • Forged or caused to be forged another lawyer’s signature
  • Made several material misrepresentations to bar counsel (Screw you, said Dick!)
  • Convinced his client to sign a document he did not understand
  • Engaged in an extended pattern of improper and unethical behavior

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 30-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2022), Dick practices his so-called brand of law at 314 Harvard Street in Brookline, Massachusetts.
