Attorney Nicholas Kefalos of Chicago; thieving slacker

The state of Wisconsin presented Nicholas C. Kefalos with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Law. Nick also received a law license from Illinois in 1999, Indiana and Michigan in 2000 and Minnesota in 2001.

The Illinois Disciplinary Commission found Nicky guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
• Failed to comply with client information requests
• Failed to refund $2,550 in unearned advanced fees (thief)
• Willfully failed to fully with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Nicky!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Illinois Supreme Court punished Nicky by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2020), Nicky practices with Vernor Moran LLC at 27 North Wacker Drive in Chicago, Illinois.
