Attorney Matthew Greife of Englewood, CO; ethical troll

The state of Colorado presented Matthew J. Greife with a law license in 2011 after he graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law.

The Disciplinary Counsel found Matty guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to reasonably consult with a client about how the client’s objectives are to be accomplished
  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed about the status of the matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Charged clients nonrefundable fees or retainers
  • Failed to maintain required trust account records
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Never responded to numerous calls from clients over two years
  • Told clients he might refunds some of their money, but never did so

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Travis by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license effective July 26, 2021.

As we speak (ca. January 2022), Matty will resume his so-called brand of law with Baumgartner Law LLC at 300 East Hampden Avenue in Englewood, Colorado in late June 2024.
