Attorney Charles Matthews of Little Rock, AR; repeat offender

 

The state of Arkansas presented Charles D. Matthews with a law license in 1964 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

 

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Charlie guilty of the following misconduct.

Charlie’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Dave!)
  • Failed to provide competent legal services (Moron)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Appeal Court ordered Dave’s removal from pending case due to misconduct

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary 6- month suspension of his law license.

Dave’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to explain matter to extent necessary for client to make informed decisions re: representation
  • Failed to take any action on client’s behalf
  • Abandoned client with prior notice
  • Failed to refund unearned fees (cheater)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to comply with client requests for information
  • Failed to notify client he moved office
  • Failed to take necessary steps to protect client’s interests after being fired
  • Failed to return client file to client after being fired
  • Failed to expedite litigation
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary 3- month suspension of his law license.

Dave’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Dave!)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to respond to client’s repeated calls

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
