Attorney David Morehead of White Hall, AR; dimwit, serial offender

The state of North Arkansas provided David Franklyn Morehead with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Davey guilty of the following misconduct.

Davey’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to provide competent representation (dimwit)
  • Failed to timely pursue client’s bankruptcy petition
  • Davey’s failure to purse client bankruptcy led to her losing the opportunity to receive bankruptcy relief and the discharge of her debts
  • Falsely certified to the court in his Disclosure of Compensation of Attorney or Debtor that prior to filing that Statement, he had received "$0.00" funds from his client, knowing she had already paid him $[00.00 on her case
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law in a jurisdiction he was not licensed to do so
  • Knowingly disobey an obligation under the rules of a tribunal

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Davey by gifting him with a complimentary 2-month suspension of his law license and fined him $1,500.00 and assessed investigative costs of $1,759.00.

Davey’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Even though his client paid him the necessary $209.00 plus another $500.00 bankruptcy filing fee, plus another $500.00, Davey lied to the court telling it that his client lacked the funds to pay the fee and needed to pay in installments
  • Client’s bankruptcy case dismissed for failure to pay $209.00 filing fee
  • Failed to abide by client objectives
  • Failed to consult with his client as to the means wherein the client’s objectives would be pursued
  • Improperly held client bankruptcy filing fee
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Davey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
