Sen. Rand Paul: Today’s “Rodney Dangerfield” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Sen. Rand Paul
Today’s Rodney DangerfieldAward Winner

During a recent stop on his Comedy Tour at Howard University in D.C.

While performing on his Comedy Tour, Rand decided to put on a show at Howard University in Washington, D.C. in early April 2013. Rand laughingly claimed his act was aimed at changing the view that the Republican part y is racist.

During his comedy routine at Howard, Rodney made the following statements:

“There is a perception that Republicans don’t like people of color, they don’t like black, people, brown people or people of different color skin. It's not true, but that's the perception that we have to overcome. And the only way to overcome that, I think, is by showing up and saying over and over again that it is not true.”

For Rodney to claim in jest that Republicans “don’t like people of color” is one of his all time best one-liners. And his “we have to overcome” one-liner is equally special since he obviously stole it from Martin Luther King.

According to Rand, it would be difficult to find any Republican who was or is a die-in-the-wool racist. Obviously, the Comic intentionally excluded fellow comics such as Trent Lott (R-MS), Jeff Sessions (AL) and Strom Thurmond (R-SC), all well known and respected bigots and racists.

Congrats Rand; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s Least Appreciated “Standup Comedians”; you are far too humble.
