Judge Jeffrey Atherton of Chattanooga; bigoted moron

The state of Tennessee presented Dale Arthur Reinholtsen with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of Tennessee Law School.

In an effort to cement his status as a certified moron and bigot, Judge Atherton refused to grant a Signal Mountain couple, Thomas and Pamela Bumgardner a divorce based on his asinine beliefs.

Atherton the Bigoted Moron made the following statements in regards to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling on marriage equality and his refusal to grant the Baumgardner’s a divorce.

• “The conclusion reached by this Court is that Tennesseans have been deemed by the U.S. Supreme Court to be incompetent to define and address such keystone/central institutions such as marriage, and, thereby, at minimum, contested divorces.”
• “With the U.S. Supreme Court having defined what must be recognized as a marriage, it would appear that Tennessee’s judiciary must now await the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court last to what is not a marriage, or better stated, when a marriage is no longer a marriage.”

This moronic bigot should be tossed off the bench for refusing to follow the Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage equality since he took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution. If Jeffrey doesn’t wish to act in accordance with his oath, then he should resign from the bench.

If he did resign, all is not lost as he likely could apply for a job as a greeter at the Walmart Super Center on Signal Mountain Road in Chattanooga. And if that doesn’t seek employment as a hairdresser once he graduates from the Regency Beauty Institute on Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga.

As we speak (ca. September 2015), Jeffrey continues to sit as a Hamilton County judge in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
