Judge Brenda Spry of Portsmouth, VA; ethical dwarf

The state of Virginia provided Brenda Cheryl Spry with a law license in after she graduated from William & Mary University School of Law.

FYI: Brenda has had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past thirty (30) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Portsmouth area was about to offer her a good paying job.

The Virginia House of Representatives was duped into appointing Brenda as a Portsmouth Circuit Judge to serve for the next eight (8) years beginning on February 16, 2021. Due to her sordid history, she was only able to win appointment by one (1) vote. Brenda didn’t receive the appointments because she was the most qualified attorney in the Portsmouth area. She received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

Prior to her appointment, Brenda along with state Sen. Louise Lucas, a School Board member and NAACP leadership, Brenda was one of 19 people charged last year in a June protest and vandalism at Portsmouth’s Confederate monument. At the request of the city’s top prosecutor, who said she’d found insufficient evidence to take any of the defendants to trial, a judge dismissed all charges in the case in November.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of person you get appointed as judge when the whole affair is politically motivated and does not involve securing a person who is intellectually and ethically compatible with such a position.

As we speak (ca. March 2021), Brenda continues to practice her brand of jurisprudence as a Third Judicial Circuit Court judge in Portsmouth, Virginia.
