Judge Joseph Wilson of Everett, WA: potty mouth scofflaw

The state of Washington presented Joseph P. Wilson with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from Gonzaga University Law School.

The Judicial Conduct Commission found Joey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Used profanity when dealing with litigants unfortunate to have appeared in his so-called court
  • Created the appearance of bias and/or prejudice against a defendant
  • Refused to consider a defense attorney’s argument and/or not allowing that attorney to make a record
  • Failed to decide matters assigned to him
  • Manifested a demeanor that was indecorous, undignified, impatient, and discourteous
  • Failed to maintain order and decorum in the courtroom
  • Failed shall accord to every person who has a legal interest in a proceeding, or that person's lawyer, the right to be heard according to law (aka, due process)
  • Interrupted litigants and attorneys and addressed them in an unduly confrontational, condescending, and harsh manner, and used foul language

During a hearing in drug court, Joey made the following statements to the defendant.

  • “Stop with the shoulder bullshit now.”
  • “So, I got a guy standing in front of me, who won’t tell me that he’s got a dirty UA
  • for alcohol, finally admits that he drank and then tells me he needs anger management.”
  • “I think you’re a fucking addict and maybe you need treatment.”

In cementing his status as an abusive tyrannical moron, Joey made the following statements to the defendant’s attorney who was attempting to make a record during a sentencing hearing.

  • “You don’t have the right to make a record.”
  • “I am not going to proceed in this case with this counsel [woman attorney] in front of me.”
  • “The matter will be stricken, and re-note it in front of another judge.”

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. December 2020), Joey continues to sit as a Snohomish County Superior Court judge in Everett, Washington.
