Senior Judge Thomas Moultrie of Portland, OR; convicted wife beater

The State of Oregon provided Thomas L. Moultrie with a law license in 1967 after graduated from the Northwestern School of Law.

The Oregon Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability found Judge Moultrie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Charged with assault in the fourth degree and harassment
  • Pled guilty to assault for recklessly causing physical injury to his wife
  • Enrolled in the domestic violence deferred sentencing program
  • Failed to observe high standards of conduct in manner that promotes public confidence in the judiciary
  • Engaged in a criminal act
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his character, competence, temperament, or fitness to serve as a judge
  • Pushed his wife causing her to fall and break her wrist

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Judge Moultrie by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. January 2020), Tommy continues to receive appointments as a Senior Retired Judge from the Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court to sit on cases emanating from various Circuit Courts in and around Portland.
