Judge Edward Fitzgerald III of Concord, NH; ethical leprechaun

The state of New Hampshire presented Edward Fitzgerald with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the University of New Hampshire Law School.

The Judicial Conduct Committee found Eddy guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Eddie and lawyer Ted Barnes were dating court monitor Susan Corcoran. Court monitors work closely with judges to ensure that court sessions are properly and accurately recorded.

During the ongoing relationship with Susan, Eddy failed to disclose that material fact in regards to a conflict of interest to various defense lawyers that appeared in his court. He also did not disclose the matter to the Chief Justice as he was required to do pursuant to the Code of Judicial Conduct. In fact, it took Eddy over four months before he disclosed the relationship despite being asked to remove himself from one or more cases months earlier.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New Hampshire Supreme Court punished Eddie by gifting him with an order to attend a seminar on judicial conduct and ethics.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the New Hampshire Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Eddy.

As we speak (ca. February 2015) Eddy continues to sit as Merrimack County Superior Court Judge in Concord, New Hampshire.
