Attorney Kathryn A. Kent of Brattleboro, VT; ethical leprechaun
The state of Vermont presented Kathryn A. Kent with a law license in 1996.
The Vermont Professional Responsibility Board found Kathy guilty of the following misconduct.
-
Failed to advise client law office had been closed
-
Failed to give notice to court of withdrawal from client’s case
-
Never returned client file to client
-
Failed to communicate with client’s successor attorney
-
Failed to deliver client file to successor attorney
-
Failure to return client file prejudiced client’s claims
-
Abandoned her law practice
-
Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
-
Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client interests after representation ended
-
Neglected legal matter entrusted to her
-
Failed to respond to ethics investigators (Up yours, said Kathy!)
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Vermont Supreme Court punished Kathy by gifting her with a complimentary 2-year suspension of her law license.
As we speak (ca. December 2014) Kathy practices in West Brattleboro, Vermont.
