Attorney Thomas Willbern III of Houston; ethical goblin

The state of Texas presented Thomas Austin Willbern III with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from South Texas Law School.

The District 4 Grievance Committee found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to keep client informed as to status of legal matter
  • Failed to comply with client requests for information
  • Failed to explain matter to extent necessary to allow client to make informed decisions regarding the representation
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client’s interests after being fired
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Tommy!)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 3-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Tommy

As we speak (ca. November 2014), Tommy practices at 1018 Preston Street in Houston, Texas.
