Judge Roman Montes of Rahway, NJ; ethical leprechaun

The state of New Jersey presented Roman A. Montes with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Law School.

The New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct found Roman guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, after Roman had Miguel Martinez tossed into jail over a domestic dispute involving an exotic danger at a Rahway go-go bar, Roman decided to visit the scene of the crime.

During the next two hours at Breathless Men’s Club, a place well known for pretty women and cheap lap dances, Roman admitted that he “flirted” with the exotic dancer at the center of the domestic dispute case. Roman laughingly claimed that he did not recognize the stripper despite the fact that he bought her drinks as she danced for him, and he tipped her.

After the stripper reminded Roman who she was, they exchanged telephone numbers and he continued to pursue her for several weeks afterward.

The Supreme Court ruled that Simon demonstrated a “gross lack of good judgment and self control” by placing his “personal desires ahead of his judicial integrity.” What integrity?

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Roman by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. November 2014), Roman continues to sit as a Municipal Court Judge in Rahway and Elizabeth, New Jersey.
