Attorney Timothy Blakely of Eagan, MN; deadbeat loser

The state of Minnesota presented Timothy Lee Blakely with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from Hamline University Law School.

The Minnesota Board on Judicial Standards found Timmy guilty of the following misconduct. At the time of his misconduct, Timmy was a First District Court Judge.

In one matter, Timmy found it acceptable to steer clients to his divorce attorney and in appreciation for his efforts, he received a steep discount on his bill with said attorney.

Timmy’s misconduct involves a $64,000 discount that he received from his divorce lawyer Christine Stroemer, to whom he sent 17 clients from his courtroom for mediation or related legal services over the course of four years. Timmy never told the clients that Stroemer was his attorney and that he owned her law firm a lot of money.

Timmy’s divorce was bitter and he had trouble pay his legal fees. He ended up owning Stroemer’s firm more than $109,000 and paid about $45,000. Magically the firm wrote off the other $64,000 he owed. 

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Timmy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
