Judge Melissa Widdifield of Los Angeles; convicted drunk

The state of California presented Melissa N. Widdifield with a law license in 1987 after she graduated from Loyola University Law School in Los Angeles.

Former Gov. Schwarzenegger was duped into appointing Melissa as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge in 2007. Melissa didn’t receive the appointment because she was the most qualified attorney in the greater Los Angeles area. She received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The California Commission on Judicial Performance found Melissa guilty of the following misconduct.

At around 1:00 a.m. Melissa drover her vehicle in a reckless manner while under the influence of alcohol (DUI).

Subsequently, Melissa pleaded no contest to reckless driving. Because Judicial Misfits in California are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, the drunk driving charge was dismissed.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the California Commission on Judicial Performance punished Melissa by gifting her with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. October 2014), Melissa remains sitting as a Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, albeit when sober.
