Attorney Johnnie Candy of Memphis; repeat offender

 

The state of Tennessee provided Johnnie Raymond Candy with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from the University of Memphis Law School.

 

The Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility found Johnnie guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Johnnie’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

  • Withheld settlement money in client’s case of $16,666 in order to negotiate subrogation claim
  • Negotiated subrogation claim with Blue Cross but failed to pay the funds for several months
  • Johnnie didn’t pay funds owed to client until after ethics complaint filed

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Johnnie by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

 

Johnnie’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to explain matter to extent necessary to allow client to determine scope of representation
  • Failed to seek lawful client objectives
  • Improper use of escrow account
  • Charged an excessive fee (cheater)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Johnnie by gifting him with a complimentary 3-day suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. October 2014) Johnnie practices at 323 Beale in Memphis, Tennessee.
