Attorney Richard Wintory of Tucson; ethical dwarf

The state of Arizona presented Richard Mendel Wintory with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from the University of Oklahoma Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Dick guilty of the following misconduct, which took place while he was the lead prosecutor in a homicide case in Pima County Superior Court.

  • Repeatedly communicated with confidential intermediary who was appointed by the court to assist defense in uncovering mitigation evidence
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Failed to advise trial court of his extensive contacts with confidential intermediary
  • Filed sham affidavit in court that failed to disclose several phone contacts with confidential intermediary
  • Knowingly mad a false statement of fact or law and/or failed to correct a false statement
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2014), Dick continues to be employed as an assistant prosecutor for Pima County in Tucson, Arizona.
