Former Judge C. Joseph Rehkamp of Bloomfield, PA; wife beater

The state of Pennsylvania presented C. Joseph Rehkamp with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from Pennsylvania University Law School.

The Judicial Commission found Rehkamp guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, while out on a drinking binge on a Saturday night, Rehkamp pushed his wife down and started to choke her, leaving red marks on her neck.

Judge Tina Polachek Gartley authorized the removal of Rehkamp permanent criminal record, meaning his record will no longer list domestic violence charges stemming from on attack on his wife.

In a petition for the protection-from-abuse order filed in January 2010, Valerie Rehkamp described her husband as an obnoxious drunk whose verbal assaults - shouting obscenities in a restaurant and harassing the bartender and waitress as they celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary, which then resulted in a physical altercation when they arrived home.

Subsequently, Rehkamp filed for bankruptcy protection after he had amassed nearly $500,000 in debt after splurges on a luxury sports car and jewelry and a $218,000 bailout for a daughter and son-in-law who owed taxes on a failed business.

As we speak (ca. July 2014), Rehkamp continues to practice in the Bloomfield, Pennsylvania area, which is about 28 miles northeast of Harrisburg.
