Judge Randolph Parro of Thibodaux, LA; ethical leprechaun

The state of Tennessee presented Randolph H. Parro with a law license in 1967 after he graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) Law School.

In 1982 Randy duped the voters in Terrebonne Parish into electing him as a District Court Judge. In 1993 former Gov. Edwin Edwards was duped into appointing Randy to a seat on the First District Court of Appeals. Randy didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney or judge in Louisiana; he received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The Judiciary Commission of Louisiana found Randy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to observe high standards of conduct (What’s new!)
  • Conduct called into question the integrity of the judiciary (What integrity?)
  • Abused judicial office to advance personal interests

In one matter, Randy’s niece was arrested and charged with felony theft. Subsequently, Randy leaned on the prosecutor and the judge presiding over his niece’s criminal case in order to assure that she received special treatment.

Randy was under the impression that everyone involved would remain silent so that his abuse of his judicial office on behalf of his niece would remain a secret. However, the Houma Carrier got wind of Randy’s misconduct and reported on it.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Randy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. July 2014), Randy continues to sit as a appellate judge on the First District Court of Appeals. His current term expires in December 2014. Hopefully, the voters will send Randy the Loser packing if he has the chutzpah to see another term.
