Attorney Emily Toner of Auckland, NZ; convicted shoplifter

The Law Society of New Zealand presented Emily Jane Sarah Toner with a law license in 1997.

The New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal found Mike guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Emily was arrested and charged with theft after stealing grocery items valued at $199.10 from a supermarket.

Subsequently, Emily pleaded guilty to the charge in the North Shore District Court. The sentencing judge acted as a cheerleader from crooked lawyers when he discharged the criminal complaint without a conviction.

Apparently, in New Zealand, this type of non-punishment for thieves is reserved for Attorneys and/or Judges.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal punished Emily by gifting her with a complimentary 3-year suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2014) Emily’s law license will be reinstated in December 2014. Therefore, Emily will be practicing her brand of law in the Auckland, New Zealand are.
