Attorney Grant Shand of Auckland, NZ; repeat offender

The Law Society of New Zealand presented Grant Donald Richard Shand. with a law license in 1993.

The New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal found Eugene guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in negligent or incompetent representation
  • Brought legal profession into disrepute

In one matter, Brand was hired to resolve a dispute wherein an offer to settle he client’s claim had been made by opposing counsel. Brand then went about agreeing to the settlement offer without ever obtaining the required prior authorization from his client.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Brands First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously found guilty of engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal punished Grant by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. June 2014), Grant practices in offices located in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand.
