Retired Judge Francis Restivo of Toledo, Ohio; one of the good guys

For many, many years, Judge Francis Restivo sat as an elected judge on the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas in Lucas County, Ohio.

Among his peers in the greater Toledo, Ohio area, and even though he was an acknowledged die-in-the wool Democrat, Judge Francis Restivo was renowned for dispensing justice based on the facts and not on the political persuasion of the parties, gender, ethnicity, and/or social/financial status of the thousands of litigants who appeared before him for many, many years.

This ol’ Dawg personally appeared before Judge Francis Restivo in his status as a visiting retired judge in a case wherein attorney David R. Pheils, Jr. had falsely filed sham criminal charges against me (ca. 1995) in the Perrysburg, Ohio (Toledo, Ohio area) Municipal Court.

During his time on this case, Judge Francis Restivo rendered rulings that were unfavorable to me; however, in hindsight, he was right in his application of the law.

I am hereby compelled to give “kudos” to Judge Francis Restivo for making the calls that Ohio law mandated he make even though they were adverse to me.

Should I and/or you for that matter, have expected more of Judge Francis Restivo? I think not!

In closing, I wish to offer my sincerest gratitude to Judge Francis Restivo for comporting himself in accordance with the oath of office he took many, many, many years ago.
