Attorney Shawn Gillum of Denver; convicted batterer

The state of Colorado provided Shawn Eric Gillum with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from the University of Denver Law School.

The Colorado State Bar found Shawn guilty of the following misconduct.

In early 2013, Shawn and his girlfriend got into an argument after drinking together and Shawn’s to girlfriend decided to try to find a cab. Shawn drove after her in his car. Shawn then pushed her down, grabbed her hair, and kicked her several times on her shins. Shawn then grabbed her purse and struck her across the face with it, causing a black eye and a lump on her head.

Two days later, after learning that the police were looking for him, Shawn turned himself in to police. Shortly thereafter, Shawn pleaded guilty in Denver General Sessions Court to one count of assault and one count of disturbing the peace. He was sentenced to two years supervised deferred judgment on both criminal counts.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Shawn by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 60-day suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court didn’t actually mete out any meaningful punishment to Shawn.

As we speak (ca. June 2014), Shawn practices with the Gillum Law Group, LLC at 3801 East Florida Avenue in Denver, Colorado.
