Attorney Laird Cruickshank of Vancouver, BC; serial offender

The Law Society presented Thomas Laird Russell Cruickshank with a law license in 1990

The Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Society found Laird guilty of the following misconduct.

  1. Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
  2. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  3. Failed to disburse funds sent to him by opposing counsel
  4. Failed to promptly respond to opposing counsel’s inquiries
  5. Failed to provide required written fee agreement to client
  6. Failed to provide client with required written accounting of trust funds received
  7. Improperly withdrew some of client’s trust funds w/o client’s authorization

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Laird’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. In the past he was the subject of four (4) misconduct reviews. He also received three (3) disciplinary citations for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee punished Tom by gifting him with a complimentary 45-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. May 2014), Laird practices at 1122 Mainland in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
