Attorney Lynn Boughey of Bismarck, ND; ethical gnome

The state of North Dakota presented Lynn M. Boughey with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Hamline University Law College.

The Disciplinary Board charged Lynn with the following misconduct.

In one matter, Lynn made an unauthorized transfer of $31,000 from a trust account identified as “North Dakota LTAB Boughey Law Firm” to a business account to pay operating expenses of his law firm.

The money actually represented $25,000 which Lynn held for the benefit of the James K. Cook Estate and $6,000 held to pay costs for an anticipated legal action on behalf of Delores. Pasini.

Put simply, Lyn used his client’s money as his own personal piggy bank for the purpose of paying his costs of operating his so-called law office.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Dakota Supreme Court punished Lynn by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2014), Lynn practices with the Boughey Law Firm in Bismarck
