Judge Brad Brownlow of Loganville, GA; Judge Roy Bean Wannabee

FYI: Judge Roy Bean was an infamous Justice of the Peace and saloon owner in Texas who called himself the "The Law West of the Pecos." Roy was also affectionately referred to as the Hanging Judge.

The state of Georgia presented Brad with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the Woodrow Wilson Law School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Brad sits as a Municipal Court Judge in Loganville, Georgia, which is about 30 miles east of Atlanta.

While presiding over a traffic case wherein the defendant Ricardo Riley was driving 15 miles over the speed limit, Brad issued an order banning Riley from ever entering Loganville and/or Walton County.

Lifetime banishment was Judge Brownlow’s idea of meting out justice for the horrific crime of exceeding the speed limit by 15 miles. I suppose if someone exceeds the speed limit by 30 or 40 miles per hour and appears before Brad, the defendant could well be banished from ever entering the state of Georgia.

When Riley was interviewed by WSB-TV, he said “I didn’t commit no murder, I’m not a sex offender, I’m not a criminal. I just got a speeding ticket, so I think that’s not fair.”

Given the fact that Mr. Riley is a permanent resident from Jamaica, I wonder if Brad gave due consideration to his ethnicity before banning him from the county.

As we speak (ca. March 2014), Brad remains sitting as a Loganville Municipal Court Judge.
