Columbus Dispatch – Sept. 18, 2002 – Moyer won’t let watchdog bark at judicial conference Jon Craig – Statehouse Reporter
Self-described judicial watchdog David Palmer was an uninvited guest at
last week's annual meeting of the Ohio Judicial Conference.
The session began Thursday with no uniformed security in sight. Shortly
after word got out that Palmer was present, three Columbus police cars
and a State Highway Patrol car arrived at the Marriott North.
"Do you know why he's here?'' a state trooper asked a reporter.
Earlier this year, Palmer attracted the ire of Chief Justice Thomas J.
Moyer and others in the judiciary for questioning gasoline purchases,
fees for visiting judge and other court expenses.
After Moyer gave his annual state of the judiciary speech, Palmer tried
to join in the informal questioning by reporters.
"I'm just talking to them, David,'' Moyer told Palmer.
Palmer later said he was prepared to show press credentials as editor of
"The Exposer,'' a Web site.
